Part of Your World series

The Part of Your World books do not need to be read in order, though readers would get the fullest sense of continuity by following the chronological sequence, which corresponds to the publication order.[1-4] The most useful starting point for a new reader is All Roads Lead to Here for the complete sequence, or Part of Your World for the clearest entry into the main shared-world romances.[13-17]

The Part of Your World books are linked standalones in a shared world rather than a single uninterrupted plot. Each entry centers on a different romantic pairing, while recurring hospitals, families, friendships, and the town of Wakan connect the books across the series. Readers do not have to begin with book one to understand the central relationship in a later title, though reading in order gives fuller context for returning characters and life changes.[13-17]

Although the Part of Your World books do not need to be read in order, readers would get the fullest experience by following this chronological order, which coincides with their publication order:[4][21-29]

Works in sequence

The core reading experience consists of the main shared-world romances that establish and extend the principal Wakan and Royaume connections. Part of Your World, Yours Truly, and Just for the Summer provide the clearest path for readers who want the central sequence without first adding shorter or more adjacent material.[14-16]

All Roads Lead to Here and The Situationship are supplementary works that expand the same world through characters and events connected to the main sequence, but they are not required before starting the central romances. They are most useful for readers who want fuller context around Derek, Nikki, Emma, Maddy, and the Wakan network.[13][17]

Readers seeking the fullest version of the series should include both supplementary works,[13][17] while new readers who want the most direct route may begin with the main novels.[14-16]

1. All Roads Lead to Here

All Roads Lead to Here, available after subscribing to its author’s mailing list,[42] is an introductory linked story centered on Derek Montgomery and Nikki, also known as Lola. Set in a Doctors Without Borders camp in Cambodia after Typhoon Channary, it brings together a plastic surgeon and a shelter volunteer through a medical emergency.[13]

Its place in the series gives context for Derek’s later absence from the Montgomery family’s expected path.[13]

Part of Your World (2022)[21-23] is the main entry point into the series. It follows Alexis Montgomery, an emergency room doctor under intense pressure from both family and professional sources, and Daniel Grant, a carpenter and property manager in Wakan.[14]

This novel establishes the contrast between Alexis’s hospital life and Daniel’s small-town community, while also introducing relationships and settings that recur later.[14]

3. Yours Truly

Yours Truly (2023)[24-26] shifts focus to Briana Ortiz, Alexis’s friend and colleague at Royaume Northwestern Hospital, and Jacob Maddox, a new doctor navigating an uneasy start at the hospital. Their romance can be understood without reading the other books.[15]

Its hospital setting, friendship network, and visit to Wakan make it more rewarding after Part of Your World.[15]

4. Just for the Summer

Just for the Summer (2024)[27-29] widens the series beyond Royaume and the earlier pairings while retaining Wakan as an important point of connection. It follows Justin Dahl and Emma, a travel nurse, as they bond over a shared pattern in their past relationships.[16]

This book brings Emma into Daniel’s extended family context and develops another strand of the shared world.[16]

5. The Situationship

The Situationship (2024)[4] centers on Maddy, Emma’s best friend, during the period when Emma is staying in Wakan and dealing with difficult family revelations. Its focus is narrower than the main novels, following Maddy’s connection with Doug and the local texture of Wakan.[17]

It is most useful for readers who want fuller coverage of the characters surrounding Just for the Summer.[17]

The Friend Zone series

The Friend Zone books may be read independently, though readers would follow the continuity most clearly by reading in publication order.[43] The most useful starting point is The Friend Zone, since it introduces Kristen, Josh, Sloan, Brandon, and the relationship network that continues to shape the later books.[18]

The Friend Zone books are linked standalones in a shared contemporary-romance setting rather than parts of one uninterrupted plot. Each novel centers on a different couple and gives them a separate romantic storyline, but recurring characters and earlier life events carry forward across the series. A reader does not have to begin with book one, though starting there gives fuller context for Sloan’s story in The Happy Ever After Playlist and the wider circle surrounding the later books.[18-20]

Although The Friend Zone books do not need to be read in order, readers would get the fullest experience by following the chronological order, which coincides with their publication order:[43]

The Friend Zone (2019)[30-32] opens the series with Kristen Peterson and Josh Copeland, whose relationship develops around a wedding party, shared friends, and Kristen’s complicated personal circumstances. This book establishes the social circle that later entries return to, especially through Sloan and Brandon.[18]

It is the best starting point because it provides the emotional context for the second novel.[18]

2. The Happy Ever After Playlist

The Happy Ever After Playlist (2020)[33-35] shifts the focus to Sloan Monroe as she rebuilds her life after loss and forms a new relationship with musician Jason Larsen. This novel has its own central romance, but Sloan’s situation is rooted in events introduced in The Friend Zone.[19]

Reading it second preserves the emotional continuity around Sloan, Kristen, Josh, and Brandon while the book can also be read on its own.[19]

3. Life’s Too Short

Life’s Too Short (2021)[36] follows Vanessa Price, a travel vlogger caring for her infant niece, and Adrian Copeland, her neighbor and a criminal defense attorney. This novel moves to a new central couple while retaining the broader pattern of emotionally connected contemporary romances.[20]

Its place after the first two books keeps the shared-world progression clear without requiring readers to know every detail of the earlier novels.[20]

The Improbable Meet-Cute series

The Improbable Meet-Cute series comprises six contemporary romance books, each written by a different author.[44] These Valentine’s Day stories do not need to be read in order, because each one follows a different couple and brings its own central situation to a close.[45-50]

Abby Jimenez wrote only the second book of the series. However, The Improbable Meet-Cute books may be read independently because each narrative introduces its own protagonists, conflict, and romantic resolution within a single entry. As a group, they share a Valentine’s Day framework and a broad romantic setup, but they do not form a continuous plotline that depends on prior reading.[45-50] Therefore, it’s unnecessary to read any of the other books in the series to read the one written by Abby Jimenez, Worst Wingman Ever.[6]

Worst Wingman Ever

Worst Wingman Ever (2024), written by Abby Jimenez,[37] centers on a Valentine’s card left on the wrong car and the note exchange that follows. Holly is grieving, overworked, and recovering from a breakup, while John is also rebuilding after romantic disappointment.[46]

Their story uses a mistaken gesture, repeated anonymous contact, and small acts of kindness to create a self-contained romance shaped by caretaking, grief, and renewal.[46]

Standalone books

Abby Jimenez’s standalone books can be read independently, although the publication order adds context to recurring characters and their relationships. Readers may start with The Fall Risk for a self-contained romance that needs no background from the other books.[51-55]

The books follow different central couples. The strongest connections run through Say You’ll Remember Me, The Night We Met, and Feels Like Falling: Xavier’s friends become important characters in subsequent romances, and Mike’s earlier experiences provide context for his own story. Reading these novels in sequence adds relationship history, but their individual premises remain understandable independently.[52-53][55]

The Fall Risk follows Seth and Charlotte’s separate romance, while A Married Little Christmas brings together three holiday novellas. Neither needs to be treated as a required step between the connected novels.[51][54]

Although Abby Jimenez’s standalone books do not need to be read in order,[51-55] it’s recommended to read them in publication order[7-10][12][38-41] by following this sequence:

5 Book cover of Feels Like Falling Feels Like Falling 2027[12] Centers Mike’s romance, with useful background in The Night We Met.

Works in sequence

The Fall Risk is the default starting point for readers following publication order. Its central situation introduces Seth and Charlotte without requiring familiarity with the recurring friend group.[51]

Say You’ll Remember Me is the strongest alternative for readers primarily interested in the connected characters, because it introduces Xavier, Samantha, and the friends who return in later books. A Married Little Christmas also works independently for readers specifically looking for a holiday novella collection rather than the recurring-character novels.[52-54]

The Night We Met is better approached after Say You’ll Remember Me, since returning characters and relationships provide added context. Feels Like Falling is likewise more rewarding after The Night We Met, which establishes Mike’s earlier relationships and the history behind his attempt to make amends.[52-53][55]

The Fall Risk (2025)[7] follows Seth, an injured arborist, and Charlotte, his new neighbor, after a construction mistake leaves their upstairs apartments without stairs. As they grow closer, their romance is shaped by Seth’s loneliness, Charlotte’s fear of a stalker, and her struggle to feel safe.[51]

Its self-contained central romance makes it an independent entry point.[51]

Say You’ll Remember Me (2025)[8][38-39] centers on veterinarian Xavier Rush and Samantha Diaz, whose difficult first meeting leads to a date just before she moves away. Caring for her mother and keeping his veterinary practice running make their developing relationship a long-distance challenge.[52]

Alongside its own romance, it introduces the friends whose relationships receive greater attention in The Night We Met.[52]

The Night We Met (2026)[9][40-41] follows pharmacist Chris Wright and Larissa after he steps in to help when his best friend Mike lets her down. As Chris and Larissa grow closer, Larissa’s relationship with Mike and Chris’s loyalty to his friendship with Mike complicate Chris and Larissa’s bond.[53]

This novel expands the recurring friend group while providing the personal history that gives additional context to Mike’s later romance in Feels Like Falling.[53][55]

A Married Little Christmas, which will be published on October 20, 2026,[10] brings together holiday romances involving Anna’s fake-dating arrangement with a former boyfriend, Matty visiting a diner while dressed as a zombie Santa, and Lauren’s encounter with a wedding’s best man. Recipes and full-page illustrations accompany the stories.[54]

This collection provides a separate seasonal reading option with no established continuity dependency on the recurring-character novels.[54]

Feels Like Falling, which will be published on April 20, 2027,[12] focuses on Elizabeth, who is worn down by caring for other people, and her coworker Mike Maddox, who wants to prove he has changed. His efforts to support her create a romance complicated by her reservations and his damaged relationships.[55]

This novel gives Mike his own central romance, with The Night We Met supplying useful context for the history behind his attempt to make amends.[55]
