Therefore, it’s unnecessary to read the Fairy Tale Retelling books in order.[3-4] However, they may be read in publication order by following this sequence:[1-2]
| Order | Cover | Title | First published | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | |
Mountains Made of Glass | 2023[1] | Introduces Gesela and the Thorn Prince through a bargain involving his hidden name. |
| 2 | |
Apples Dipped in Gold | 2024[2] | Follows a different couple on a quest for a wish-granting golden apple. |
1. Mountains Made of Glass
Mountains Made of Glass (2023)[1] follows Gesela after she is banished to the Thorn Prince’s realm and offered a chance to win her freedom. She has seven days to discover his true name, with every incorrect guess threatening to extend her imprisonment.[3]
This book establishes the shared forest setting through Gesela’s self-contained romance, introducing magical bargains and transformations without leaving her story dependent on another installment.[3]
2. Apples Dipped in Gold
Apples Dipped in Gold (2024)[2] follows Samara as a debt to the Prince of Nightshade draws her into a search for a wish-granting golden apple. Accompanied by a talking fox, they travel through the Enchanted Forest while Samara’s abusive brothers pursue her.[4]
This separate romance expands the setting into other fae realms without requiring familiarity with Gesela or the Thorn Prince’s bargain.[4]
