1. A Shadow in the Ember

A Shadow in the Ember (2021)[7-9] establishes the series’ central premise: Seraphena is raised to become the Consort of the Primal of Death while secretly trained for a deadly purpose. This book introduces Lasania, the Rot, the Shadowlands, Nyktos, the prophecy, and the significance of Sera’s power.[3]
It is the foundation for the entire series.[3]
2. A Light in the Flame

A Light in the Flame (2022)[10-12] continues from the revelations about Sera’s identity and the danger surrounding her Culling. This book develops the conflict between the Shadowlands and Kolis’s forces while expanding the roles of the Primals, the Fates, the Chosen, and Nyktos’s court.[4]
It also moves Sera from a protected outsider toward a more central position in the conflict.[4]
3. A Fire in the Flesh

A Fire in the Flesh (2023)[13-15] begins with Sera imprisoned by Kolis and follows the consequences of the previous book’s ending. Its place in the series depends on earlier events, including Sera’s bond with Nyktos, the embers of life, Sotoria’s role, and Kolis’s obsession.[5]
This book advances the main arc toward Sera’s transformation and the changing balance of Life and Death.[5]
4. Born of Blood and Ash

Born of Blood and Ash (2024)[16-18] follows Sera after her Ascension and continues the series’ central war into its final phase. This book focuses on her new powers, the wider alliance against Kolis, the threat posed by the remaining Primals, and the consequences of earlier prophecies.[6]
It closes the series while leaving the future of Sera, Ash, and their world open beyond the immediate conflict.[6]
