1. Belly Up

Belly Up (2010)[16-17] establishes the series’ central setting and pattern. Teddy Fitzroy lives at FunJungle, a zoo and theme park where his parents work, and becomes involved in the suspicious death of the park’s famous hippopotamus.[2]
This book introduces Teddy’s investigative instincts, Summer McCracken’s role as an ally, and the mixture of animal knowledge, danger, park politics, and comic chaos that recurs throughout the series.[2]
2. Poached

Poached (2014)[18-19] follows Teddy into another FunJungle mystery when a rare koala disappears and Teddy is wrongly suspected. This book keeps the case self-contained while also developing the recurring characters around the park, including Summer, Teddy’s parents, the security staff, and park management.[3]
Its place in the series reinforces Teddy’s growing reputation as an amateur detective and how FunJungle’s public image often complicates investigations.[3]
3. Big Game

Big Game (2015)[20-21] centers on an attack involving FunJungle’s rhinos and a suspected poaching scheme. Teddy again investigates with Summer while facing pressure from park leadership, security conflicts, and animal-related evidence.[4]
This book is understandable on its own, but it is more rewarding after the earlier installments, as Teddy’s relationships with the FunJungle staff and his unofficial investigative role are already established.[4]
4. Panda-monium

Panda-monium (2017)[22-23] opens with the arrival and disappearance of a giant panda, drawing federal attention and bringing Teddy and Summer into a high-profile case. This book uses familiar FunJungle elements—restricted areas, security disputes, animal expertise, and public-relations pressure—while adding a kidnapping mystery.[5]
It also benefits from previous context for recurring characters such as Marge, Doc Deakin, J.J. McCracken, and Walter Ogilvy.[5]
5. Lion Down

Lion Down (2019)[24-25] broadens the series beyond a single park incident by combining a mountain lion case with a separate FunJungle animal mystery. Teddy and Summer investigate claims that a protected predator killed a dog, while the park faces its own animal-health problem.[6]
This book is episodic, but it uses established relationships, Teddy’s experience with animal evidence, and FunJungle’s surrounding community to widen the series’ scope.[6]
6. Tyrannosaurus Wrecks

Tyrannosaurus Wrecks (2020)[26-27] shifts the central case to the theft of a newly discovered tyrannosaur skull on a family ranch. Teddy, Summer, his parents, and friends become involved in a mystery that connects fossil theft, local suspicion, and illegal animal dealing.[7]
This installment shows the series moving beyond zoo exhibits while maintaining its emphasis on clues, animal knowledge, and Teddy’s network of recurring allies.[7]
7. Bear Bottom

Bear Bottom (2021)[28-29] takes Teddy, Summer, and their families to a bison ranch near Yellowstone, where missing livestock and a stolen necklace create overlapping investigations. This destination mystery uses a new setting while preserving the series’ familiar structure of animal incidents, human schemes, and Teddy’s deductive role.[8]
It is especially useful in sequence for readers following the McCracken family and Teddy’s relationship with Summer.[8]
8. Whale Done

Whale Done (2023)[30-31] moves the action to Malibu after a disaster at FunJungle leaves Teddy’s family temporarily displaced. A whale carcass, suspected environmental wrongdoing, and local beach conflicts give Teddy and Summer a coastal mystery outside their usual Texas setting.[9]
This book is accessible as a standalone case, but its setup benefits from knowing Teddy’s home life, his relationship with Summer, and the series’ environmental concerns.[9]
9. All Ears

All Ears (2025)[32-33] returns Teddy to a regional animal mystery involving the disappearance of an African elephant from a rescue sanctuary. The case intersects with local crime, a wrongful accusation against one of Teddy’s friends, and a separate construction-site mystery.[10]
This book continues the series’ pattern of self-contained investigations while using Teddy’s friendships, family support, and reputation for solving unusual animal-related crimes.[10]
10. Ape Escape

Ape Escape (2026)[34-35] sends Teddy beyond FunJungle and the United States when a baby gorilla is stolen from an orphanage in Rwanda. This book’s premise gives Teddy an international rescue case involving poachers, travel, and dangerous terrain, while Summer remains connected through a second mystery back at FunJungle.[11]
As part of the series, it expands the geographical range of Teddy’s investigations without abandoning the series’ core animal-crime structure.[11]
