Left Behind: The Prequels

The Left Behind: The Prequels books must be read in publication order.[39-41] Readers should start with The Rising, which introduces the trilogy’s main characters and conflicts.[16]

The trilogy forms one cumulative narrative centered on Nicolae Carpathia’s rise and the lives of Rayford and Irene Steele, Buck Williams, and Abdullah Ababneh. Each volume adds viewpoints and international developments, but the later books assume the histories, relationships, and religious conflicts established earlier.[16-18]

It’s necessary to read Left Behind: The Prequels books in publication order, because each volume builds on the established characters and conflicts, by following this sequence:[39-41]

Left Behind: Apocalypse series

The Left Behind: Apocalypse books must be read in publication order,[56-59] which coincides with their chronological order. Readers should start with Apocalypse Dawn, which introduces the global disappearances, the Turkish-Syrian conflict, and the characters whose stories continue across the series.[60-63]

The four books form one continuous narrative. Storylines introduced in Apocalypse Dawn continue throughout the series, including the battle for Turkey, the Gander family’s separation, the mystery surrounding Icarus and Alexander Cody, Delroy Harte’s spiritual struggle, and Nicolae Carpathia’s growing influence. These threads develop across the installments.[32-35]

Because the principal narrative is continuous, it’s necessary to read the Left Behind: Apocalypse books in publication order,[56-59] which coincides with their chronological order,[32-35] as follows:

Left Behind: The Kids series

The Left Behind: The Kids books must be read in publication order,[64-75] which coincides with their chronological order. Readers should start with Taken, which introduces the young survivors and the crisis that drives the twelve-volume narrative.[20-31]

The twelve collected volumes form one continuous narrative centered on Judd Thompson, Vicki Byrne, Lionel Washington, Ryan Daley, and the network that grows around them after the Rapture. Later volumes assume familiarity with earlier conversions, losses, alliances, prophecies, and Global Community threats, so skipping ahead would remove context needed to understand the characters’ decisions and the escalating judgments.[20-31]

Because the principal narrative is continuous, it’s necessary to read the Left Behind: The Kids books in publication order,[64-75] which coincides with their chronological order,[20-31] as follows:

Left Behind: End of State series

The Left Behind: End of State books must be read in publication order,[76-78] which coincides with their chronological order.[36-38] Readers should start with End of State, which introduces the disappearances and the survivors whose stories continue through the sequels.
