Works in sequence
The core reading experience consists of linked-standalone novels, each introducing or developing a major couple in the same shared world. These books carry the main progression of recurring families, settings, and criminal relationships.[2-5][7-8]
The supplementary book, Sweet Sin, expands or reframes an established relationship rather than functioning as a required entry in the main couple-by-couple sequence.[6]
Readers who want only the principal sequence may leave Sweet Sin until later. Those following Kal and Elena closely should include it after Promises and Pomegranates.[2-8]
1. Promises and Pomegranates

Promises and Pomegranates (2021)[10] introduces Kal Anderson, Elena Ricci, and the violent criminal world around the Ricci family. This novel establishes Aplana Island as an important setting and places Kal’s obsession with Elena at the center of the opening relationship arc.[2]
It also introduces characters and complications that later books revisit through connected characters, families, and criminal alliances.[2]
2. Vipers and Virtuosos

Vipers and Virtuosos (2021)[11] shifts the focus to Riley Kelly and Aiden James while retaining links to the wider world through Kal Anderson and organized-crime connections. Its story combines Riley’s past, Aiden’s damaged public life, and a later confrontation with the consequences of a false scandal.[3]
This book may stand alone, but it gains context after Promises and Pomegranates.[3]
3. Oaths and Omissions

Oaths and Omissions (2022)[12] follows Jonas Wolfe and Lenny Primrose, bringing the Wolfe and Primrose families into focus. This book uses a fake relationship, family hostility, and private revenge to expand the political and criminal networks already present in the series.[4]
It also gives more weight to the Wolfe family before Alistair becomes central in the next installment.[4]
4. Arrows and Apologies

Arrows and Apologies (2022)[13] centers on Alistair Wolfe and Cora Astor, moving the series into the corrupt civic and criminal structures of Aplana Island. Cora’s search for her brother connects her to Alistair’s world, while the story also draws on Jonas Wolfe and the wider island underworld.[5]
Reading the earlier books first gives useful background, though the main romance has its own frame.[5]
5. Sweet Sin

Sweet Sin (2022)[6] is a shorter companion-style entry tied to Kal and Elena. It revisits their relationship in a darker scenario framed by Elena’s recurring nightmare, rather than continuing the series in a straightforward way.[6]
It reads best after Promises and Pomegranates, when Kal and Elena’s central relationship is already established.[6]
6. Souls and Sorrows

Souls and Sorrows (2022)[14] returns to the Ricci family through Ariana Ricci and Cash Primrose. This novel connects Ariana’s confinement, family obligations, and criminal inheritance with Cash’s campaign against the underworld.[7]
It also brings back Kal and the Ricci family’s history, making it more rewarding for readers who already know the earlier Ricci-centered books.[7]
7. Liars and Liaisons

Liars and Liaisons (2023)[15] follows Violet Artinos and Grayson James, extending the series beyond the Ricci, Wolfe, and Primrose conflicts into the James family’s troubled sphere. Violet’s links to Kal, Cora, Alistair, and Aiden connect the book to previous installments, while Grayson’s isolated estate gives the story a distinct setting.[8]
It reads as a new couple’s story in the same shared world.[8]
