Therefore, although it’s unnecessary to read the Montgomery Brothers books in order, readers will get more context and continuity by reading them in publication order,[2-4] which coincides with their chronological order,[5-7] by following this sequence:[1]
| Order | Cover | Title | First published | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | |
Legacy | 2020[2] | Introduces the Montgomery family, its businesses, and Ford and Harley’s relationship. |
| 2 | |
Peacekeeper | 2020[3] | Shifts to Harrison and Laney while continuing family developments established in Legacy. |
| 3 | |
Rebel | 2020[4] | Centers on Jack and Monroe after the earlier couples and family changes are established. |
1. Legacy
Legacy (2020)[2] follows Ford Montgomery, the CEO of his family’s media company, and Harley DeLuca, a bakery owner who leases a Montgomery storefront. Their business arrangement turns into a romance shaped by Harley’s family history and Ford’s guilt over his father’s death.[5]
This novel introduces the Montgomery family, its businesses, and the history later installments continue through Ford’s brothers.[5]
2. Peacekeeper
Peacekeeper (2020)[3] follows Harrison Montgomery and his former love, Laney Mae Landers, after Laney returns to Napa to help her mother through cancer treatment. Working together at the family winery forces them to revisit their breakup, their connection, and the trauma Laney has carried since college.[6]
This installment expands the family story by developing Harrison’s place within the Montgomery family and advancing relationships and events introduced in Legacy.[6]
3. Rebel
Rebel (2020)[4] follows Jack Montgomery, who manages Montgomery Media’s newsroom, and Monroe Buckley, a journalist investigating public figures. Their working relationship becomes complicated by a dating pretense, family ties, and Monroe’s dangerous reporting.[7]
This novel completes the sequence of stories about the three brothers while showing how the earlier couples and the Montgomery family have changed over time.[7]
