Throne of Glass Books in Order

Throne of Glass (2012)^[32] brings Celaena out of Endovier to compete for the position of the King of Adarlan’s Champion. Inside the glass castle, she forms alliances while investigating deaths connected to an ancient and concealed power.^[6]

This novel launches the main sequence by establishing the competition, the royal court, and the supernatural conflict that drives later books.^[6]

Crown of Midnight (2013)^[33-35] follows Celaena in her service as the king’s Champion while she investigates Archer Finn and a growing rebel movement. Questions surrounding the Wyrdkeys, forbidden magic, and threats within the castle place increasing pressure on her closest relationships.^[7]

This novel transforms the competition-era setup into a struggle against the king’s rule and hidden source of power.^[7]

Heir of Fire (2014)^[36-37] sends Celaena to Wendlyn, where Rowan Whitethorn trains her while demanding that she confront abilities and memories she has resisted. Parallel storylines in Rifthold and the Ferian Gap broaden the conflict to include witches, wyverns, and Valg forces.^[8]

This novel rebuilds the heroine’s identity and purpose while preparing her return to the continent as a leader rather than an unwilling royal assassin.^[8]

Queen of Shadows (2015)^[38-42] follows the heroine’s return to Rifthold to rescue an imprisoned ally, confront her former master, and reach Dorian. At Morath, Manon and Elide discover further evidence of the Valg experiments supporting the coming war.^[9]

This novel closes the Rifthold phase of the story, gathers a new court, and launches the struggle for Terrasen.^[9]

Empire of Storms (2016)^[43-47] follows the search for allies while Dorian, Manon, Elide, Lorcan, and other characters pursue linked paths across the continent. Sea battles, ancient bargains, and the search for the Wyrdkeys draw the separate forces toward Eyllwe and Terrasen.^[10]

This novel expands the conflict into a continental war and ends with a crisis that determines the series’ final phase.^[10]

Tower of Dawn (2017)^[48-52] follows Chaol Westfall and Nesryn Faliq to Antica in search of treatment and a military alliance. Yrene Towers’s healing work and the khaganate’s investigation reveal further information about the Valg, the Southern Continent, and Maeve.^[11]

It is a required parallel installment whose political, magical, and character developments feed into Kingdom of Ash. It should be read after Empire of Storms, although much of its timeline overlaps that novel.^[11]

Kingdom of Ash (2018)^[53-57] reunites the scattered allies as rescue efforts, a Wyrdkey mission, the witches’ campaign, and Terrasen’s defense converge. The war unfolds across several fronts while healers, Fae, witches, human armies, and ancient powers determine the continent’s future.^[12]

This novel completes the narrative and resolves conflicts established throughout the series.^[12]
